Pet urgent care can help your animal in dire situations. If you need emergency care for your pet in or around the Fairfax area, our team at Little River Veterinary Clinic is here to help. We offer state-of-the-art diagnostic tools and services to help your pet when he or she needs it most. Our veterinarian provides immediate care for animals to reduce pain and prevent their conditions from worsening.

What Requires Emergency Pet Care?

Regardless of their age or breed, all animals are susceptible to unforeseen health problems. Although it can be hard to determine when emergency care is needed, common circumstances that require urgent care include:

Ingesting Poison or Toxic Substances

Poisonous substances can harm your dog or cat. Toxic ingestions are often due to an animal eating a regular household item. Many of these items poisonous to pets include household cleaners, certain foods, plants, and even holiday decorations that can cause digestive obstructions.

Wounds & Bites

If your pet has a wound or bite caused by a fight or attack by another animal, he or she will need immediate care. Injuries may seem minor but can lead to serious health complications if left untreated. Our team can assess any bites or wounds your pet may have and determine if your pet is experiencing any other health-related issues.

Digestive Issues

If your pet is not eating enough, failing to go to the bathroom properly, or experiencing frequent vomiting or diarrhea, this may be a sign of a digestive issue occurring. Our veterinarian can provide imaging services and other resources to diagnose the problem and provide the necessary treatment to help your pet's digestive system improve.

Behavioral Changes

If your pet is experiencing fatigue, lethargy, or is just not acting like itself, this may be a sign of an underlying health issue. Bring your pet to our clinic for emergency treatment if he or she is experiencing any behavioral changes. Behavioral changes in pets are often signs of them trying to deal with whatever pain or discomfort. We can run various diagnostic tests to assess why your pet's behavior has changed and how we can help.
