FAQ

The Little River Veterinary Clinic team makes it our goal to provide client education about all aspects of pet care. We believe that educated pet owners make better pet owners because they have the information they need to make the best decisions for their pet’s needs. We have compiled a list of frequently asked questions for you to explore by simply clicking on your question to reveal the answer.

If you do not see your question listed here, we invite you to contact us and we’ll be happy to help!

Does my pet need to be on heartworm and flea prevention year round?

Yes. In our area we do not get cold enough long enough to kill all fleas and ticks. We have pulled fleas and ticks off pets in January!

When can I have my pet spayed/neutered?

We spay and neuter pets at 6 months.

Why does my pet need to be vaccinated multiple times for the same thing when they are puppies or kittens?

We do a series of shots to build up the proper immunity to specific diseases.

Why does my pet need an exam before every vaccine?

We need to be sure your pet is healthy enough to receive a vaccine before administering it.

Does your practice accept payment plans?

No, but we do accept CareCredit which offers a 6 or 12 month interest-free payment plan on qualifying purchases.

We take Pet Assure.

Do you offer walk in appointments?

We are by appointment only.

Do you offer grooming services?

We do not have a groomer on site so we cannot offer breed-specific cutting, but we do offer thorough bathing, nail trims, ear plucks, light trimming, lion cuts and basic grooming needs.

Do you offer vaccine packages or puppy/kitten package deals?

There are no package deals at this time, but we try our best to keep our pricing very competitive.

Does your practice offer Military Discounts?

We do not have a Military Discount in place at this time.

How much do you charge for a spay/neuter/dental?

We can give a very rough ballpark estimate over the phone, but we recommend you bring your pet in to meet with one of our doctors in order to get a much better estimate according to your individual pet.

Why do I need to run a fecal test on my pet when my pet is indoor only?

We can easily track parasites inside our homes on our shoes from walking outside in grassy areas.

Why do I have to run a heartworm test if my pet is on heartworm prevention?

Since nothing can be 100% guaranteed, we need to be absolutely sure your pet has not contracted heartworm before continuing treatment.
